View from Pulp Fiction Hotel Room

So I have arrived. Been here nearly a week and must say it feels more like a month. Checked into my hotel last Wednesday evening and was unpleasantly surprised. Though described as a hotel suite, it resembled a Pulp Fiction film set, complete with leaking bath and sprayed with the latest Abu Dhabi febreeze line; 'Odour Camel Light'. Apart from the initial disappointment, things have gone well. Last Thursday night, missing the weekly pilgrimage to McFadden's, I frequented a local hotel bar; Hero's. Had only just entered the bar and was deciding on my first drink, while perusing the establishment for people to chat too, when a familiar face popped out from the crowd. I walked over, tapped him on the shoulder and waited for his surprised response. Took him a while to work out who I was...had been over 15 yrs since we last saw each other after all. He was my neighbour back in the Cheshire for 10 yrs. We played tennis on the street and had water fights in the Summer when we were kids. So suffice to say, we chatted all night and talked about old times. He is a teacher here and spends his days whipping the rich Sheikhs' progeny into shape. He introduced me to his teacher friends and promised me a ride on his speed boat at the weekend....small world!
